Aid project of the diocese and its parishes

With donations from parishioners and friends, the diocese of the Armenian Church in Germany with its 16 parishes supports people in Arzakh and Armenia who are particularly in need. For the realization of the project, she works closely with the local dioceses of the Armenian Church and various aid organizations.
Unfortunately, shortly before Christmas, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. The government in Baku has the only supply route to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) blocked. Especially in these winter months, gas is rationed, schools are closed, the sick cannot be cared for, shops and pharmacies are empty and cannot be replenished. It is particularly difficult for families with several children, the elderly and people who are struggling to survive on the brink of poverty anyway.
Therefore, the donations from this year's "Christmas Joy" campaign will benefit families with many children and socially disadvantaged families in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). In cooperation with the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Church and the Artsakh Foundation for Social Development Programs, we would like to support the target group with food and hygiene items worth 70 euros per Christmas package. Purchasing for the packages is done locally to support local retailers as well.
How many families receive support depends on the amount of donations received for the campaign. The families are always very happy about the parcels. Many fathers can use the small savings to make a Christmas present for the little ones in the family. For many mothers, we take the worry out of caring for their children, at least for a few days. Older people are also happy about the support that provides them with the essentials.
But more important than the gifts was and remains the message for our campaign: "You are not alone"! Meeting people gives hope and strengthens faith in God. The belief and knowledge that God has not forgotten them in their situation. The hope that with the birth of the Lord something new and wonderful, something good will happen and the consolation not only of not being forgotten.
Give hope and joy together with us, especially in this seemingly hopeless and difficult time for the people in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and ensure a little more Christmas spirit, for Christmas joy.
